Perils in The Industry?

Record companies are panicking and everybody knows that the music industry is in great trouble. However, for musicians these are very interesting times, for two reasons.
Never has music production been so accessible. You can set up a studio with nothing but a laptop and free software.
Never has it been so easy to expose yourself to listeners around the world. Create a MySpace account and you are potentially exposed to millions of listeners right there.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the music industry has become completely leveled. The Britney Effect is still in effect, however there is an ever increasing chance of your music becoming popular if you have some marketing skills. That is certainly than the record company world of engineered hit-bands that is now dying.
If we can do just a tiny bit to contribute to this trend, I will be very happy!
